When we started our search for a doula, we were looking for someone who could advocate for what we wanted whenever we couldn't during our birth. We wanted someone who was compassionate and kind to first time parents who knew nothing. Ambuir was everything we wanted and more, during our pregnancy and especially during our birth. Not only did she do multiple classes with us, constantly answer texts and calls with questions, send evidence based articles, she helped us feel confident in the choices we made for our child by educating us in every area. During our birth Ambuir couldn't be there in person but stayed on video chat for 3 days talking us through everything and being our support system. She provided us with the tools to make the best choices in a difficult birth, confidently. My husband and I were both sad to have our last appointment with Ambuir as she has become like family to us. I highly recommend Ambuir to anyone looking for a doula who truly cares about her clients. I still feel all I have typed here can't truly show just how amazing our experience was with Ambuir, we couldn't be more grateful for her.

As a first time mom I was very nervous and felt like I knew nothing about giving birth. I knew there was so much to it and just didn’t know how to get all the information. My sister knew about Ambuir and her doula services and recommended that I contact her and I am so glad I did! Throughout my pregnancy Ambuir came to our home and did classes to help educate us on labor and delivery and all the interventions that could happen. We would talk about my appointments and she even came with me to ones that my husband couldn’t make it to. I definitely think without Ambuir I probably wouldn’t have had the labor I did. Everyone talks about getting induced and so did I before Ambuir educated us on why it’s better to wait. So we waited for my labor to start on it’s on, I did go a week past due but I definitely think that my labor benefitted from waiting till my baby and body were ready. My labor was what I feel like quick and easy! I knew I would be more comfortable at home when I went into labor so we stayed at the house until we felt like it was time to go to the hospital. Ambuir came to our house and helped get me into different positions that would help me progress in labor. Once we got to the labor and delivery room Ambuir was very hands on with counter pressure and encouraging me to move around so my labor would continue to progress. This allowed my husband to focus on me and give me words of encouragement. I was able to go all natural with my delivery which I am so thankful for and I couldn’t have imagined a different experience! After I delivered my baby girl the nurses took her and were trying to do foot prints when I explained in my birth plan that I wanted immediate skin to skin. Ambuir advocated for me to get her and I don’t think I would have gotten her as soon as I did if she did not do that which I am also grateful for. I am so happy that Ambuir was able to attend my birth I’m not sure if I would have been able to go without the epidural if it weren’t from both Ambuir and my husband supporting me! I can’t thank them enough and I’d do it all over again a million times!

It’s hard to explain how much having Ambuir as our Doula has impacted our lives. From the first time my husband and I met her she helped these first time parents feel calm and in control of our birth story. Throughout our journey she has provided information that catered to us specifically and was always willing to answer questions. If she didn’t have an answer or know someone that could provide a service, she would quickly and efficiently find us a contact.

When I decided at 34 weeks to completely change our plans from a hospital birth to a home birth, Ambuir helped us make it happen. She sent me contact information for midwives and helped prepare our minds, my body, and our house for the most perfect experience. We were able to bring our son into the world the way we wanted, and we will be forever grateful to Ambuir for helping make that happen.

She helped turn our insecurities into confidences. She was with us throughout our labor and delivery process (the whole 26hour and 45 minute process.) Ambuir provided support, suggestions, and encouragement during my labor and delivery process to both my husband and I. She helped me feel grounded, present, and calm while bringing our boy earth side.

She is experienced and educated in all things pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum. She continues to increase her knowledge on these subjects through classes, books, and her many connections in the birthing community. I will be recommending her to any expectant parent, and we will seek out her services for any future children we may have.

We cannot recommend Ambuir highly enough! She was absolutely amazing during our pregnancy, birth and postpartum period. She came with loads of information and we benefited greatly from the classes she provided. Ambuir was very helpful when the need arose to make major decisions concerning our care, giving us information and advice, but never once pressuring us or trying to persuade us in any way. She was very supportive in our final decisions. Ambuir checked in with us often, always willing to lend a listening ear when needed. She came when we thought I was in labor, but weren’t positive, and we are so glad she did! Our baby was born in the car before we left the driveway and I don’t know what we would have done without Ambuir. She accompanied us to the hospital when our baby needed medical attention and then came to visit while we were in the NICU and checked on us often. She was very attentive to our needs both physically and emotionally and will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

From the moment I met Ambuir she made me breathe again! I was so nervous about having a home birth and when I meet her I knew it was what I needed to do. She was so informative and always told me it was my decision on whatever I wanted to do! She treated me with so much respect and she became family! I love that she always made my husband feel comfortable as well. Whenever I needed her she was always there from simple late night text messages to being my doula counselor. I could talk to her about anything and if she didn’t know she gave me resources to help! I’m thankful for Ambuir to be my Doula, she’s a part of my family now. My birth experience was exactly how I had hoped, imagined, and planned. Thanks to Ambuir, my husband and I were well educated on our options and what to expect. We were very prepared physically and mentally for labor and delivery. I am so impressed with the time Ambuir spent with us as she educated us, coached us, checked in on us, and spent every moment of labor and delivery with us and after. Ambuir continues to check in on us to make sure we are doing well and she is there with answers to all of my postpartum questions. We are telling everyone that hiring a doula (specifically Ambuir) was by far the best decision that we have ever made.

I have known Ambuir for many many years and I have never seen her more passionate about anything as a woman getting the birthing experience that she desires and deserves. She is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful throughout the entire process. She checks in before and after each appointment and is willing to develop a relationship with your OBGYN. She was able to help me come up with a birth plan that fit the needs and preferences of my husband and I. She provided many techniques and strategies to assist my husband and I through the labor process. She also was a huge advocate with reminding myself and my nurses of things that I had stated in my birth plan. I initially said that I did not want an epidural but caved by 6cm. I was so afraid that I would be disappointed in myself for giving in to the pain. However, Ambuir supported me through it, and made me feel confident and comfortable with my decision because it was what was best for me. Once our sweet baby arrived, Ambuir stayed to help me with getting her to latch and finding comfortable positions to nurse in. She worked so hard and never left my side. Without Ambuir I have no doubt that my birth experience would not have gone so smoothly and I cannot thank her enough for supporting us! She is truly amazing!!

I can’t say enough good things about Ambuir. Because of her, I was able to have the unmedicated, intervention-free hospital birth I hoped for. I’m a firm believer that birth has the potential to be a deeply transformative and meaningful experience – and Ambuir played a huge role in making this happen.

How, you might ask? I’ll limit myself to listing three of Ambuir’s particular strengths:

1) BIRTH PLANNING. Ambuir helps you create (and adjust) a birth plan that suits your needs. In my third trimester, I realized I deeply distrusted my OB-GYN in Montgomery – and when I discovered that (due to COVID restrictions) I wouldn’t be able to have Ambuir with me at the hospital, I panicked. Ambuir came up with a range of alternatives and offered her full support when I elected to travel an hour and a half to Birmingham to give birth at Princeton Baptist with the wonderful team at the Simon-Williamson clinic.

2) PREPARATION. Ambuir offers an unparalleled degree of support by phone and text, in addition to several in-person sessions.  I had previously hired a doula for the birth of my first child and had a very good experience. But Ambuir’s regular check-ins and after appointments and (especially!) in the days leading up to my due date were extraordinarily helpful, both to help me assess pre-labor signs and to confront pre-labor anxiety and exhaustion.

3) LABOR SUPPORT. Throughout labor, Ambuir knew just what to do to support me. I was having trouble coping with contractions when Ambuir arrived at my home, but she gave me physical and emotional support that allowed me control and breathe into contractions. She was also incredibly positive and helped me laugh even mid-labor. I was worried about timing our departure (given that we had a 90 minute drive), but with Ambuir’s assistance, we arrived at the hospital in perfect time -- just as I was moving into the transition stage. And as the labor progressed, Ambuir remained an advocate, making sure my preferences and my needs were respected. Perhaps most impressively, Ambuir helped me to believe in myself and in the power of my body to bring my child into the world. That’s a gift that can never be repaid.

Ambuir is now a friend as well as my doula – I am so lucky she entered my life and helped my baby girl enter the world.

Ambuir was a Godsend in my Labor/Birth story. I can not praise her enough and explain how much she changed my life, but I will try my best.

Since day one she made my husband and myself feel safe, heard, and excited. She always sent me a plethora of information about any topic, whether that was searching for midwives, comfort measures, vitamins, IBCLC, PPD counselor, pelvic floor therapist, education on birth plans, knowledge on risk vs. Biological norm. You name it she will get it to you which will give you the best confidence.

What I love most about her is her faithful strength. My labor was not anticipated for 20 hours, but she was next to me for 24+ hours with all the strategies and comfort to help me thrive. My family loves her and we are amazed by her.

She is the reason my Birth story is so positive even with how medical things got. She was my voice for everything.

I would recommend her to everyone! She goes above and beyond her call of duty. She's there 24/7. Even if you need to vent, go on a walk, or just a call away. I went 41 weeks and 5 days with my second baby. There was a lot of venting with the need to have my baby in my arms. She always reassured that my body will be ready when baby is ready. Guess what!? I had my baby on Christmas day and my water broke Christmas Eve....she was there! As much as it broke me to see her not spend that with her family, I truly had a magical Christmas and the best present.

Our first daughter was born via a c-section in 2020 where my husband and I were not knowledgeable of our rights and choices, how to advocate for ourselves or honestly understanding of the birth experience at all. A result of that c-section was months of postpartum issues so going into this second pregnancy, our main goal was a VBAC delivery. Ambuir was there for us every step of this journey. We took her classes to understand the birthing process and our rights. And when it came to labor, Ambuir was such an active part of keeping me comfortable for many long hours. She is so knowledgeable in her field and we tried position after position to find the best comfort and to make progress getting our baby girl ready for delivery. We labored at home for a long while with Ambuir by our side and then at the hospital as well. She was a Godsend to us this pregnancy and we are so happy to report that with her support, we achieved our VBAC! This delivery, compared to my last, was totally different in the best way possible. It was amazing, surreal, and all around wonderful. I would recommend Ambuir to anyone who is pregnant, whether it’s your first or second. She listens to you, finds out exactly what you want your birth to look like and will do ANYTHING to try and help make that happen. She will advocate for you and make sure your wishes are known to your doctor. 10/10 recommend always!!

I couldn’t recommend Ambuir more as a doula. I dreamed of a home birth but at 39+4, health complications made that change at the very last minute. Ambuir was more than capable of helping us navigate the change of home to hospital in a moments notice and equipped us with the knowledge to be able to make informed choices and even advocated on our behalf for our birth choices. Without her, the birth of our son would have gone very differently and we are truly grateful for her support.

Ambuir far exceeded my expectations for a doula and I couldn't have asked for anyone better to be there for me before, during, and after the birth of my baby!

I know I was so head strong about a vaginal birth, and still want it of course, but given everything that was thrown at me, with Ambuir's help and recommendations I truly am happy with how this birth went. I felt a part of bringing my baby into this world and that's all I really wanted. I felt heard and in charge and that was very important to me and she helped give me that confidence to do so.

I can't fully express my thanks to Ambuir for her services. She provides a service like none other and because of her I felt at peace making decisions even when they were hard. I also felt much more support from my husband this time because of her ability to guide him through labor and delivery. He felt equipped to support me better.

Ambuir is true to her name- she will help support you & your partner with the knowledge, guidance, attentiveness and love you need to have the birth the way YOU want it. All of her classes and materials gave my husband and I a vast amount of knowledge about birth and our options. She is up to date with research-backed information. Our experience with Ambuir was quite beautiful as she advocated for me as a first time Mom and really listened to my wants as well as my needs for labor. She also created a bond virtually as I didn’t meet her in person until we moved to Montgomery in my third trimester. When we finally did get here, she welcomed me and helped connect me to all the important services I may need in the birthing world. She truly goes aboe and beyond for her clients. I would highly highly recommend her for mothers who are looking for someone with both a hospital AND home birth background. Our little family is so lucky to have found her! Thank you Ambuir!

My water broke at 35.4 weeks and Ambuir didn’t skip a beat to help us as our birth plan went a different direction! Even though my labor was (start to finish - 3 hours) she hurried to the hospital as fast as she could and helped us through the crazy labor and delivery we didn’t know we’d have!

Ambuir was the best doula we ever could’ve asked for! She was gentle, encouraging, and loving throughout the WHOLE process. She made my questions and concerns feel seen. She loved and encouraged me through every fear leading up to the birth. 

When it came time for the labor and delivery, she never left my husband and I’s side but left room for us to experience the craziness together as one. 

I would recommend her to every single person who is considering a doula! She is truly amazing!!! 

Lastly, you get a friend out of it! She has checked on me so much postpartum & hasn’t abandoned me. She’s answered every question or fear I’ve had about my newborn and has not made me feel dumb or stupid for what I haven’t known!
